Plast-NIne
Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle, Plast-Nine imagines a fictional type of plastic that slowly becomes part of nature, embedding, preserving, and rewriting its forms. The project works with found elements from the forest such as pinecones, cherry stones, and branches, which are combined with plastic materials including recycled packaging film, freezer bags, polyester, and 3D-printing filament. Through techniques such as heat, steam, 3D printing, and laser cutting, the plastic is manipulated to behave almost like an organic substance, enveloping, encapsulating, mimicking, and preserving nature.
The exhibition marked the culmination of an artist residency at Dyrehavehuset, founded and directed by Bess Kristoffersen.
